Essential Thrash

yep.

btw, this topic is old, but i'll introduce some essential bands here:

violent force - malevolent assault of tomorrow
exorcist - nightmare theatre
sacrilege b.c. - party with god
demmolition hammer - epidemic of violence
num skull - ritually abused
hallows eve - death and insanity

there many others but to start it's fine

Mortal Sin - Mayhemic Destruction
Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death
Possessed - Seven Churches

and a dozen more death thrash bands I'm too lazy to list

Speak English or Die. Not bad, but not one of my personal faves, but worth adding to your collection for historical value alone, IMO.

new thrash isn't really that good overall. Lethal has a debut, Gamma Bomb I think is their debut as well.

Agree, for the most part. Although War Without End pretty much blows away any other recent thrash album, IMO. Maybe not "essential," but I'd say it's worth looking into.

I thought that too, until I heard Atrophy. warbringer totally ripped off them, i have no little to no interest in listening to them now

Well, yeah, but ripping off the classics is about the best new bands can do, isn't it? I mean, it's not like they're gonna top any of the old classics.

I agree with Ozzman saying that one thread for each genre should be stickied (Death, Thrash, Black, etc.).

Look over the list and recommend more albums or criticize ones that are already posted.

Also add the following:

Sepultura - Arise
DRI - Crossover
Dew-Scented - Inwards
Forbidden - Forbidden Evil
Grip Inc - Power of Inner Strength
The Haunted - S/T
The Crown - Deathrace King
Sadus - Swallowed in Black
Testament - The New Order
Suicidal Tendencies - How Will I Laugh Tomorrow
Witchery - Dead Hot and Ready

I'm starting to listen to a lot of thrash again, I kind of stopped listening to it for awhile, but now my interest is renewed. I've rounded out my slayer stuff, and I'm thinking of getting Heathen next.
