Event ASP8 Review (ie. my new monitors)

I should also mention that I've found these to have a fairly weak center image. Along with that the imaging between the two side extremes seems rather weak and indistinct. I can't quite work out whether this is coz I virtually have a monitor in between them, right in front, or because of my shifting their position in the room. I distinctly recall the PMCs having a massive phantom center, with vocals that just popped out at you, almost a dB or two louder than they sounded on most other monitors.

I noticed a better centre image when I had to move my ASP8's off speakers stands and onto a more solid surface (decoupled with MoPads). Monitoring position and speaker placement is probably a greater influence though.

As a college student, I bounce between my parents' house and my apartment pretty regularly, and I have different desks at each - at my folks' house, I have a small regular desk flanked by monitor stands that my Tannoys sit on, and since they're much wider apart as a result, the phantom center is INCREDIBLY more pronounced, almost like different monitors! My room in my apartment is better treated, so the overall sound is better, but wherever I move to next, I'm definitely gonna have to budget room to fit speaker stands on either side of this desk! FWIW...
