Oh well I always did it and that's true about everything you said.
And after 3 or 4 years you have to check the thermal paste, if it has "evaporated" you have to clean and put some new fresh one.

I clean my stuff all the time. It's essential. When your machine starts acting strange, it's usually 1 of 2 things: A driver problem or a heat problem.

I was afraid that the current range of silent cases weren't gonna be able to fit new generation videocards... so I opted for a very open server case, with low-noise fans.
Cleaning the fans is cool... although by the time they clog up I usually find its a good time for an upgrade.

I've had this DAW since october (built it myself) and it was getting clogged as fuck! hahaha

Yeah, clearing you cpu fan (and don't forget the power supply) from leaves, birds, bees and stuff is really something that should be done every other month.

You could always make filters on all the open spots on the case using pantie hose. I've not done it, but I hear it works great.
