Ever sat and cleaned your CPU fan?

I clean my stuff all the time. It's essential. When your machine starts acting strange, it's usually 1 of 2 things: A driver problem or a heat problem.

BTW, you want quiet? Check this out:

The whole case sits on a pair of neoprene pucks to decouple it from the floor. Front mounted downward firing power supply & low noise fans. Shockmount for the hard drive as well. I've had mine for about 2 years & it's fantastic. You can get the whole story here:

I was afraid that the current range of silent cases weren't gonna be able to fit new generation videocards... so I opted for a very open server case, with low-noise fans.

Cleaning the fans is cool... although by the time they clog up I usually find its a good time for an upgrade.

I've had this DAW since october (built it myself) and it was getting clogged as fuck! hahaha

Incidently, i discovered that when i installed some of my external drives and made them internal.

It's actually a tidy room, Jsut i always have the windows open and all manner of shite comes flying in.

Yeah, clearing you cpu fan (and don't forget the power supply) from leaves, birds, bees and stuff is really something that should be done every other month. :heh:

That was the picture I saw in my head, reading your post, Gavin

You could always make filters on all the open spots on the case using pantie hose. I've not done it, but I hear it works great.
