Ever wonder how aggressive metal bass should sound in a mix??

I mean I can definitely tell it's a sample, don't get me wrong, but tonally it seems present in the right areas to fit the mix. Of course it sounds stupid and overdone, it's a stupid and overdone genre...

I'll post a clip later of the kind of bass tone I go for usually.

I gotcha Jake. On an aside, I'm not trying to single you out lately even though it may seem that way. When I hear stuff like this though --as a bass player -- I would be embarrassed to play it for my friends.

Critique makes one stronger. If I wanted a pat on the back I would show my audio endeavors to my parents, not industry professionals. I appreciate your sentiments though :)

On the actual clip itself, I can appreciate Meshuggah even though they don't have a great sounding mix, and I can appreciate Burzum even though they have a god awful sounding mix. By comparison this stuff is just left of the mark. Although admittedly, to put either band next to this band in conversation is a sin punishable by death...

I think some have it backwards, the "tone" here is really fitting... It's just fucking +18db through the roof, I never knew people actually used sampled bass by itself as a lead instrument before, hah. This shit..
