tbh cds made in the last however long are not that fragile, they have to have a pretty hardcore gouge before they're unreadable.

Maybe a few years off into the future. Also they would have to come in some sort of modified cassette-sized case that still includes art, lyrics, notes, etc.

If these things came is a case with all the things we have come to expect from a cd, then it is not as gay, but like someone else said, if it is coming with all the shit we are used to, what the point of changing anyway.

Now there's an idea. Fuck this smaller = better bollocks. Laser disk albums would be an idea I'd support for sure. And imagine how much information you could fit on a disk that size with today's technology.

Do you remember when CDs were packaged in those 12" boxes in the early 90s to fit them in normal LP bins? It still had the normal CD, jewel case and booklet inside. Just an extra cardboard covering. My friend still has his box for the Black Album.
