Exporting MIDI from Guitar Pro into Cubase issues

So when I export MIDI from a guitar pro file (where I program my keys and stuff) and then drop it into Cubase, everytime it starts at the beginning of the MIDI file it will go to a certain setting within the VST. (for example, it will always go to a certain patch no matter what)

I think it's a setting in guitar pro on export but I can't find anything.

Anyone know what's up?

the problem is that guitar pro writes some extra midi data. right click on the midi track and find the midi list editor. Delete the entries you don't want, I usually delete all of them except for the note data.

Single click on the strip of midi data to select it. Right click on it to bring up menu -> midi -> open list editor

trim trim trim trim away all the data except notes!

moonlight i think the problem is guitar pro midi sometimes puts data that will change the midi instrument and this crosses over into the DAW.

However the method of deleting the midi data from the beginning mentioned here should do the trick.
