Extracting Vocals from a Track

Hey guys,
my friend who is currently trying to do a remix needs help trying to extract vocals from a track.
He is using Logic Pro.
How would one go about doing so?

(Right now he's got a HP at 500hz, and LP and 6000hz. Because thats the entire spectrum of where the vocals themselves lie [I helped him figure that much out])

I don't if other DAW's have this or what they call it, but audition has a Center Channel Extractor effect for that.
