I have both that and the Vic Firth and prefer the Extreme. Actually my Vic Firth Blew a speaker in one ear after using it twice.
Still slacking on sending it in to get replaced.

those things are really painful to wear for any extended period of time, but they isolate really well.

The EX-25 uses passive isolation and the EX-29 uses battery power... I don't know how big of a difference there is in isolation though.
You guys know of anywhere selling the EX-29 for less than $80? or EX-25 for less than $50? Is the EX-25 good enough to keep music bleed from getting to the mic when tracking vocals?

Yes they're good enough to track vocals, they isolate very well.
And you can stand right next to a drum kit and hear what you're playing without having to blow your brains out with the headphone amp.

Yea i got a pair of the Vic firth but i might grab a pair of these as well. I'm almost always recording in the same room with the drums and guitar amps.

I kinda wish I would've bought those instead of the regular DT770s... I don't really trust my Vic Firth phones when dialing in tones and Beyer's I have don't offer that much isolation. Still fuckin' amazing headphones though.

the regular ones have 15 db of isolation afaik. we have those at the radio but i usualy have them so low that i get a lot of rumble from the normal monitors (which aren't set at a high level either) through them..
