Hello all,

My band are almost done recording and mixing our album, and we've been wondering where to master it.

We play a mixture of black and death metal, and we're looking for a pounding sound. (the sound of when Exodus meets Morbid Angel).

What mastering houses do you recommend?

The best I could think of are: Andy Sneap, Studio Fredman (Fredrik Nordström) and Tailor Maid (Peter in de Detou). I'd dream of contacting Peter Tagtgren at The Abyss studios but I have no way of contacting him.

A demo sample of something we recorded last year can be found at this location.

Thanks in advance.

To master it at Finnvox with Mika Jussila would cost around 900Euros for an album between 40-50 minutes long.

So far the average price for mastering at all the studios mentioned here are very close.

Abbey Road ask for a few hundreds euros extra.

Ted hasn't done any extreme metal that I know of? And for most artists and labels in sub-genres it's pretty hefty to churn out 5000 EUR or whatever for a master. And if you don't attend your session at Sterling, chances are you won't even get Jensen, Marino or whoever you are paying for.

5000 EUR, that's more often than not the whole album budget ain't it?! :erk:
