IMHO I think Addictive Drums is far better sounding and as a stand alone ( ie, little to no post production/outboard DSP ) far more flexible and capable. Fuge and Deadstars' presets are insanely good for metal too. You can also get some basic comparison info on both here...

I like fuge's stuff, yeah, now that you mention it... the Snare I feel has more trouble comming out and getting that kinda poppy cracky tone that I like, tho...


Can the drums be routed to different tracks to add effects on GarageBand, anyone know? What about Reaper or Logic?

Hihats and rides are the main reason why I love Addictive Drums!
They sound so natural with as little tweaking as possible, like basic dynamics (velocity adjusting) and timing (a bit of humanizing).
And what's best about them - they cut through the mix nicely without being obnoxious and overpowering everything else...

Heh, personally the hihat is the only thing I don't like in AD It sounds flat and boxy, no matter what EQ settings you have. But then again, it could be the hihat they sampled. I prefer a more airy and opened up hihat that rings very long, not the semi-closed types AD has that die out even with the most open sample layer.

All I'll say is that coming from EZD + DFH to DFH Superior v1, theres a huge difference. The kick and snare in DFH are pretty unusable, incredibly thin and 1 dimensional. DFHS took me a while to get sounding good, but its worth it. Judging by the clips, AD, DFHS, or S2.0 would be a much better choice despite the fact that you have to work at it.
