fast blastbeat drummer

Fragle: of course it also depends on WHAT you play slowly ;)

yeah, I've also been a drummer way back (never really got into playing metal though, I didnt even listen to metal at that time) and I noticed that some of the slower stuff is quite a bit more complex than a lot of faster stuff. now if you play relatively simple things rather slowly then of course its kinda easy

we also have that little grind-band here with a pretty insanely fast drummer, but I dont really like his playing as I feel theres nothing really interesting to his playing other than speed

well, i can't play drums AT ALL...i try to, but i'm just not talented. i kinda learned how to do the fast thrash style kick-snare-kick-snare thing, but forget about double bass playing :D :D :D
however, for some reason i think drummers have to be REALLY creative in order to come up with something that's somewhat fresh....basically, the only way for a drummer to show his talent (other than steady timing and sheer speed) are the fills. you can only do so much as far as beats are concerned...slow/fast double bass drumming, the uptempo thrash thing, midtempo kick-snare a la acdc, blast beats, and that's pretty much it. just think about it, when compared to drums the possibilites a guitar gives you seem to be endless.

edit: hexer

lemme guess....provocation? :D :D :D
man, seriously, the first time i saw them live (JuZe Lohr, opening for daemonolatria (my bass player's side project as you might know) and ROTS....um...fragmentory :D :D :D) i was like W.T.F ?!?! ;)
not my cup of tea, not at all actually, however, i'm also not exactly into necrophagist or hate eternal, so i guess my taste in music is just to mellow to appreciate this music ;)

right, was talking about provocation
I saw them for the first time that day, too. first was kinda fascinated by the blast-speed, but then... oh well...
