You may notice that only a handful of these include vocalist groups. I make no attempt to deny generally thinking vocals suck and that instrumentals are the way forward. Symphony X's Russel Allen was a personal revolution to me about singers as I have no problem listening to and enjoying the music whilst he sings; I just don't like vocal music in general. There are a good deal of instrumental guitar albums around, and it's these I am interested in, (I have grown to admire master keyboard players very highly in the last year). I mentioned Aphex Twin and Orbital because they are the only good electronic bands IMO; Aphex Twin displaying complex compositions to challenge Jazz guitarist's for time signature complexities etc, and Orbital for their really great tunes, (unlike the 4/4 beats that you get almost all the other acts in the generally terrible electonic area of music). I still only listen to Aphex and Orbital a very small proportion of the time because the repetition factor is still a little too rife, and I need optimum complexity to satisfy my brain, where slow, simple, repetative music makes me feel sick. I think most crap music would sound great at double speed.
