OK, I've seen to genre listings with "Classic Metal: Iron Maiden" (I think). What's that all about? As far as doing favourite band for each genre goes, I thought we'd all agree on the "Classic Metal" one...........

Looks like I was wrong, how come Black Sabbath wasn't listed under classic metal huh? What is wrong with you people!!!!!:err:

 @ yayogakk and dune_666!

I'm not very well-rounded when it comes to metal...all my favorites fall in maybe 3 categories, so I'll sit this one out.

Death Metal: latter-day Morbid Angel
Black Metal: early Ulver
Open-Minded Black Metal: Rakoth
Doom Metal: early Anathema, otherwise it would be My Dying Bride
Extreme Doom: Skepticism
Gothic Metal: Paradise Lost 1992 - 1996
Dark Metal: In the Woods...
Progressive Metal: Pain Of Salvation
Gothenburg Metal: Dark Tranquility
Power Metal: old Helloween (I would've said Nevermore but I don't interperate them as power metal)
Thrash Metal: Coroner ties with Kreator on this one!!
Mainstream Thrash: Megadeth
Symphonic Metal: Tristania
Old School: Judas Priest circa 1973 ("Sad Wings Of Destiny")
Nu Metal: the first Korn album
Miles Ahead Of Anyone: Opeth and Devin Townsend

Death Metal: Deicide
Black Metal: Emperor
Progressive Metal: Dream Theater
Power Metal: Blind Guardian
NU Metal: Fear Factory
Thrash Metal: Paantera
Goth Metal: Lacuna coil

NU Metal: Fear Factory

I think it is so stupid to categorize (at all) Fear Factory as Nu Metal. They really have no Nu Metal influence, or sound except for a bit on the new album. Sure theres a little scratching, or whatever the hell that is, but they are an amazing band, and should not be classified as "nu metal".

Death metal-Death, Morbid Angel, Nile, Carcass
Doom Metal - Anathema, My Dying Bride Paradise Lost, etc
Gothic Metal - Evereve, Lacrimosa
Black Metal - Arcturus, Ulver, Immortal,Emperor
Drum'n'bass - Technical Itch, DieselBoy:lol:

AND
KATATONIA

I'm not good with genres either, as bands can actually vary genres between albums and even between tracks on albums.
I could just list my fav bands, but I think I will take up too much space, so I will sit this one out as well.
