Favorite My Dying Bride CD?

I'm listening to Songs of Darkness, Words of Light right now. Yeah its a pretty good album. The only problems i have with it is "My Wine In Silence" Starts out amazing when it is calm, but the mood totally gets ruined when the screams come in. They should have just kept the song mellow.

I agree with that one. I really don't like MDB, but Songs of Darkness, Words of Light would have to be my favorite MDB album. The second song is really fucking cool. It's really dark and moody. It's the best MDB song I've heard.

"so do you have recordings of your first death/doom band?"

Yeah Dan, actually we recorded two demos during our existence which was roughly from 1991 to 1995. The band was called Dead Serenade, which also featured in it's ranks bassist Brian Whited (current ND bassist). It was pretty much what you'd expect from a death/doom band from that time period. We ended in June 1995 when our singer Jerry Koziol died in a car accident, ironically on the morning that we were supposed to sign our record deal. The rest of the guys in the band pretty much went on to join Novembers Doom while I sorta faded out of the scene for a while, and eventually joined ND too in '99. Jerry actually was playing with ND too around the time he died, and he co-wrote the song "Seasons Of Frost" that appears on the reissue of "Amid Its Hallowed Mirth".

I don't have any Dead Serenade on cd or MP3 format, only the old demo cassettes. Occasionally the demos pop up on Ebay but not too often. I still have fond feelings towards that band and the music but it's a bit depressing to think about as well....

People who love power metal aren't supposed to like MDB. You never hear and banshee screams with a dark, drawn out riff and death vocals.

 LEAVE US POWER METAL DORKS ALONE!!!! MAY YOU BURN IN THE FLAMES OF THE DRAGON WHO RESIDES IN THE ENCHANTED FOREST!

HAIL, HAIL, HAIL AND KILL! HAIL, HAIL, HAIL AND KILL!!!!

I could never listen to just ONE genre of metal.
There are ones I prefer to others, but I couldn't imagine only listening to power, or death, or doom, and NOTHING else.

Excellent. Ill definitely be gettin the cd. And a shirt if you'll have mediums for smaller folk like me.

Same old stuff here, Vito. I'm enjoying the good weather right now while working on my accounting project. I'm planning to come out there this summer if all goes according to plan. I'll give you the fact that some of those women in country music look great in a pair of jeans and need to wear less up top. I may not like most of it, but their looks certainly make up for it. How are things out your way?

Yeah man, just look at Gretchen Wilson, she's one hot mama. Nothing exciting going on with me really, I'm working insane hours, just moved out on my own last month. That's about it.

hmm.. meisterwork 2 has my favorite songs by them, so I'll go with that.

Huh? I thought those were entirely songs off other albums with a b-side or two thrown in. I don't really KNOW cause I didn't bother buying either (someone sent me the song "follower" off the second, though, which was pretty slick).

Meh, I still love the song. MY absolute favorite moment on the album is the ending of "The Prize of Beauty". That would have to be in my top 5 MDB moments, actually.
