3. Dreamscape

5. Brainstorm

PoS absolutely blew me away. Stellar musicianship! :notworthy

PS: Great to see all my friends at PP (old and new). Special shout out to Henk (see you in the NL soon!), Alonzo, Kris, and Shaye (lady_space). Yep, I made it back to Boston in one piece and I didn't catch your cold....

I agree about the sound - but there was nothing the band could do about that, and in general I do think that Glenn and his crew did a great effort.
Do bands not have any control over the sound mix at PP? I've never really noticed whether it's the same guy at the board all weekend before, but I have noticed that the sound can vary from one band to the next. For instance Symphony X was way too loud at PP4, and I remember thinking that the sound wasn't so hot for Devin Townsend at PP3. This year it seemed like some bands sounded better than others as far as the mix goes, though I don't recall the sound being an issue with Wuthering Heights.

Wuthering Heights ... without a doubt! What an incredible experience this was! :) Their setlist couldn't have been better and their performance was one of the most energetic and enjoyable ones I've seen!

That band was not my top band, but they were far and away the "surprise" band for me. Great musicianship. Cool style and though not the energy of TM and Brainstorm, they were entertaining to me. I really enjoyed them.

I agree. Considering that Wuthering Heights doesn't do tours or even concerts normally, it's a small miricle Glenn even got them to come. Think of it as one of those rare Once In a Lifetime experiences.

This is like choosing which variety of caviar to have -- it's not like any of them are bad choices, right?
  • PoS (gee, really?)
  • Adagio
  • Dreamscape (my total-surprise of the weekend)
  • Into Eternity
  • Brainstorm
  • Kamelot
  • Magistral
  • Edguy
  • Tad Morose (points off for starting early :))
  • Wuthering Heights -- and it's a measure of the overall excellence of this fest that I liked them
  • Prototype
  • Halcyon Way
  • (Savathingummy -- sadly, I missed their set :( )
  • (Enertia -- missed their set almost completely too)

So I watched every band except Savatage from the rail and this is what I thought about the sound:

Bad sound/ could not hear vocalist:
Kamelot, Edguy, Tad Morose, Into Eternity, Dreamscape, and POS

Good sound/ could hear vocalist:
Wuthering Heights, Brainstorm, and Adagio

I am wondering where the people who think Wuthering Heights sound was bad were sitting? I was very dissapointed that from the front line I could barely hear Toby, Roy, or Urban's vocals. Glenn had to notice that you couldn't hear Toby from the front since he was standing directly in front of me for Edguy's set.
I could hear Savatage great fromt he back.

My top sets from favorite to least favorite (Keep in mind I love the top 7 bands):
1. Wuthering Heights
2. Tad Morose
3. Edguy
4. Adagio
5. Brainstorm
6. Savatage
7. Kamelot
8. Into Eternity
9. Dreamscape
10. POS

Wow. Reading some of your entries I am wondering any of you actually were there at all!! PoS sounded fine but I can look at the pictures in the cd and see more moving around and hear the same tunes.

Best "performances" were
1. BRAINSTORM
2. Tad Morose
3. ED GUY
4. Kamelot/Dreamscape
I guess if everyone liked the same thing, life would be boring.
Personally, I don't care for the Death Metal thing but I did like Into Eternity's performance. Also, surprisingly enough EVERYONE in ALL the bands were perfect gentlemen! Timo Kotipelto and Rob Rock were also awesome to meet. THANKS GLEN!!!!!

Pain of Salvation / Adagio
Savatage (Quit the gay ass WOMD name.. It's pure fucking TAGE)
Edguy
Kamelot
Tad Morose
Brainstorm
Dreamscape
Wuthering Heights
Into Eternity (missed them =((((( )

Also, I wanna note that there were no BAD bands, but my list features the ones I enjoyed the set and knew better =)

While I went there expecting Pain of Salvation to steal the show for me (huge fan - not into Be yet), I was disappointed in their preparation for this show. I've never seen them, much less any ProgPower level band, mess up so much. I was toally blown away by Tad Morose and Brainstorm but I wasn't as familiar with their material. Savatage was probably the most enjoyable overall for me -- so I had to give them top props.
