for all of us living in the city or near the city...feel free to post places that people who are traveling in for the fest or even who plan on coming to the Chicagoland area can check out. It doesnt have to be metal related.

stuff like....

- stores
- restuarants
- clubs / bars
- landmarks

STORES:
Rolling Stones in Norridge (Has ton of CDs concert DVDs and even bootleg DVDs and CDs)
www.rollingstonesmusic.com

STRIP CLUBS:
ADMIRAL THEATER in Chicago on Lawrence Ave.
This is the best in the Chicagoland area.
They sometimes have stars from the adult industry there.
I have seen Christy Canyon there a few times!!!

CASINOS:
Harrah's in Joliet - This is very close to the venue!

Rivers Casino in Rosemont / Des Plains - This is right off of the 294.

Hollywood Casino in Aurora - This is somewhat off of the 88 West

RESTAURANTS:
Portillo's Hot Dogs - Various locations throughout the Chicagoland area. There is NOTHING on their menu that is bad. That includes hot dogs, Polish, hamburgers, beef, bread, salads, etc..

SuperDawg - A Chicago staple!!! The Chicago location has REAL LIFE ex-convicts working there!!!!! The Chicago location is on Milwaukee and Devon. There is also a suburban location up north on Milwaukee Ave, but this is VERY far from Joliet.

The main issue though is that you won't get very far unless you have a car. Joliet is at minimum about 45 minutes to an hour from anywhere in the Chicagoland area you would want to visit. Make sure you have a GPS.

in the city.....if you are driving....expect at least 1 hour and 45 minutes with traffic from Joliet. It sucks.

Reckless Records has 3 locations....in the Loop, Wicker Park and Lakeview. Has tons of vinyl and CD's. Lots of cheap used stuff as well. Decent selection of stuff.

there are tons of places to eat. The city is kind of divided up....

you have Wicker Park....hipster city. Lots of small hip stores, bars, Reckless Records, and stuff. Blue Line from the EL gets you there.

Lakeview / Addison (Wrigley Field Area) - Red Line EL train gets you there. At Belmont there is tons of stores and food places.

Loop area is pretty much dead on weekends. that is the main downtown area. The major sights are open but not many of the stores and stuff.

Also, the Joliet Harrah's Casino is on the next block from MoJoes.
Many MoJoe's goers even park in their lot.
That is something to do during the day for those staying in Joliet.

Yeah, the reality is that if you are staying in Joliet and plan on going into the City, esp on a weekend, PLEASE allow yourself at least 2 hours travel time each way to be safe.
