Twas a close race between "Black Seeds Of Vengeance" and "In Their Darkened Shrines". I eventually went for "In Their Darkened Shrines" - I do not agree that the second half of the album is boring.

It's between Black Seeds and Catacombs for me; i'm not interested in Shrines.

After much deliberation I have decided to go with Catacombs. To me it is the most dynamic mix between caustically brutal and hauntingly ancient.

i've only heard In Their Darkened Shrines, and to be honest it's nothing particularly remotely interesting or amazing in my opinion... but that's probably because i prefer brutal death metal with a groove, technical or raw.

You might want to check out their older stuff if you prefer technical or brutal death metal

I don't like there albums as a whole. I like specific songs and I do own Catacombs and have heard all there albums. I will go with Catacombs due to the first 2 songs and 1,2 more from that album.

Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka without a doubt! Black Seeds is a great album, and so is Darkened... but Catacombs blows them all away in my mind.

Wow this was really tough. I voted for In Their Darkened Shrines, because of Unas Slayer of the Gods is one of the best songs I have ever heard. Black Seeds is a very close second and Amongst is a closer third. All three albums are excellent but In Their Darkened Shrines is thier best IMO.

I think you look into their older stuff. And listen harder there is tons of groove in all of Nile's work, give them another shot they are defintetly worth the effort. They are one of the few bands that are actually innovative in the brutal death world today.

fair enough.

i nearly bought Amongst The Catacombs and/or In The Beginning but the place i was going to get them from stopped selling them, and im sure as hell not paying £16+ for them on the high street. :hypno:

Yeah. You can buy all four from America if you want for about £22 (when its been converted) from Unique Leader. They do free shipping to the UK as far as I know as well. I've bought stuff from them about 6 times in the past few months. There's loads of other CDs on their site as well, but mostly death metal.
