Fidelman mixing the next Gojira album? (fuuu!)

I'm gonna be open to this. The Way of all Flesh is a great album, From Mars to Sirius still crushes TWOAF especially in the mix. While TWOAF' mix isn't bad, even considered amazing/good, maybe it's to "clinical" sounding for a Gojira album. We're all judging Fidelman on crushing Death Magnetic and World Painted Blood, both these bands are hands on in the studio and are on his ass constantly. Lars was probally pushing him "LOUDER, LOUDER, LOUDER" and Kerry probally doesn't let anyone else than himself touch the amp. I still really like his work on Subliminal Verses Vol 3 from Slipknot and AHC's The Feeding, so I see a possible cool record coming up.

He still facilitated those sounds though.....

Yeah, I dunno, although TWOAF has that wow factor with the production, it can come off a little sterile at times as a result. It's just a little too clean and clear, especially for Gojira who are essentially a doom/death band when you break it down. FMTS was super doomy, and although perhaps not as sonically 'professional' sounding (what does that even mean?) it had way more to it in terms of an emotional presentation. It was a little rough around the edges and a little flat, but it suited the music unequivocally. Put it this way - remix FMTS with the TWOAF production and it'd lose everything that is special about it in an instant.

Agree 100%

wait a minute....

rick rubin is producing gojira?

i don't believe how more people aren't doing double takes about that. this has to be the most lopsided music combination ever. rick rubin is as big as it gets and relatively speaking gojira is a very small band in a very niche market of very extreme music that only certain people appreciate.

that's like steven spielberg directing an indie movie about ceramic pottery or some odd topic.

wait a minute! where does it say rick rubin has anything to do with this??

i read the article, there is nothing there? google yielded rumors? is that all there is because i hope this really happens.
