Film SoundTracks

Both.

And this coming from a huge Lynch fan.

I don't understand how you could be a huge Lynch fan and not like that movie. The soundtrack on the other hand, is a collection of songs which anyone may or may not like.

I actually didn't like the movie at all when I saw it... I think it came out when I was in like 8th grade. I had the soundtrack & it had some decent stuff on it. I actually still have the soundtrack, surprisingly. It was good music to me then, but I'm pretty sure it's shit now.

It is just an ugly and boring film and the story lacked a ton. Compare his new movie, INLAND EMPIRE, with Lost Highway and than you will understand what I am saying. The soundtrack to INLAND EMPIRE fits the movie in such a great way.

Then why did you recommend it?

Well, I listened to it a ton when I was young & I used to love it. I used to buy a lot of soundtracks as a kid & there was always a lot of techno & Nine Inch Nails era stuff on those soundtracks I really dug. My taste has really changed a ton since then & I probably wouldn't like it nearly as much now, but that doesn't take away from it being a great soundtrack ;)

Was NIN in Lost Highway?

In Lynch's newer film he has his own track called Ghost Of Love which is a really interesting song. It is magic when it is played with the scene.

I'll definitely check out his new one, and I'm sure I'll probably like it, although I thought Mulholland Drive was a tad weak. I actually found Lost Highway really beautifully shot and well paced, and the non-linear story worked fine for me and made me think.

Fair enough. Seems odd that you would recommend something that you think is shit now, but ok.

Pi has an ace soundtrack if you like Electronica and IDM type music.
I love Thomas Newman soundtracks, The Shawshank Redemption soundtrack is brilliant. Green Mile has a pretty good one too.

Lost Highway was an ugly, ugly film. But INLAND EMPIRE is a utterly amazing film. Lynch made a good move to use his digital video camera.

Whoever said Baraka, that's a win right there. Also my favorites are 2001 A Space Odyssey, Star Wars, Starship Troopers, The Pianist.
