I am not sure if this totally belongs here, but you all know how I feel about copy protections of all sorts and now, someone finally is getting it:

All the way through, given their employer, you're expecting them to get onto 'and this is why we need Palladium'. But where they end up is more or less with the conclusion that vendors should sell their content unprotected and compete with the 'darknet' on "convenience and low cost rather than additional security."

The employer mentioned in that quote by the way is non other than Microsoft or as I like to call them Mickey Snot (sounds more like the porn stars they are :D )

If a team from Microsoft (certainly the bastion of unbiased research) came to that conclusion, I can only feel saddened by the increasing stupidity of record companies. There will come a point in their arms race that they have completely alienated the paying public, leaving behind bankrupt record companies and labels. The implications of this are very serious, and this could be the death not only of major companies, but small ones like Century Media (and Osmose, but I don't give a fuck about those French shitheads).

well here in Spain they already started doing it while ago...Spanish bands sell extra dvd footage, or another cd for the same price...I even saw one album from Café Quijano, where they sold 2 cds of the same album in one pack so you could give it as a gift to some friend :)
