Fingered bass mixing.. May someone reamp this?

Hey,

happy new year everyone! I'm still having hangover but have to work again! ;D

I have to deal with a fingered bass track in my newest production. Normaly there are a lot of mids in highs in my basstrack in can play with, but due to playing with fingers this bass sounds so damn muffy and bassy. Tried to distort it a lil, but this sounds even more weird. The bass player was kinda good, but I can't get it to sound nice. Never had that much problems.
Are they any hints for fingered basses? Or is there even someone who can reamp this track for me? One track first as a test, and a paid one later for the full album if it fits?

Post a clip.

EQ it first to get some brightness back, maybe even use an enhancer. Then get to work with compression/distortion etc.

^ I agree, because fingered bass can be really good for blending in with the guitars and making the mix sound huge.

Sounds like the guy didn't hit hard enough, whack a clip up and I'll see what I can do

As a couple others have hinted, don't bother trying to make it sound like a picked bass because it simply isn't going to.
