Listening through the compilation now...lots of surprises and impressive stuff to comment on. Besides all the high quality, technical/brutal Canadian death metal with good production on this comp (seriously!!!) ...

Has anyone ever heard of this band: SOMEWONSPIT from Edmonton, Alberta? They may be rather unkown, so I'm proud to admit that I'm a fan (fuckin kvlt, eh?)! I remember first hearing them on a previous Fire Union Comp, and they stood out for having chicks in the band and really unique female vocals. I'm glad to hear they are still putting it out!

So, go here: http://www.myspace.com/somewonspit and listen to the song titled "Salem" (it rocks as soon as you get past that weird into thing). The vocal hooks are great, the synths are cool! Really original stuff, etc... Go listen and comment here!

I must say that I was fairly certain that Woods III was going to be a monster album within a day or 2 of hearing Woods II when it was brand new.

That thought was solidified with the online appearances of The Northern Cold, Iron Grudge, and Your Ontario Town is a Burial Ground.

Now, after finally having "The Northern Cold" on a portable format-- the Fire Union disc-- and being able to listen to it while cruising down the interstate or snaking through some dark, remote country roads at 6am, or just cranking it on my rack stereo-- I'm happy to say that my thoughts have been confirmed-- not that there was really any doubt.

But I'm preaching to the choir...
