Hi,

I've been thinking if I should upgrade my mic preamps to something better. The pre's on my Firepod are good, but kinda dull sounding. Is the Real Nice Preamp any good/better, or should I go for something more expensive to get any real improvement?

i just got a trident 4t channel strip wich makes for a nice front end. i plan on getting another trident channel strip as well, the s-40. the preamp section sounds really nice and has a very musical eq section.

Thanks, I'll check it out. It doesn't have s/pdif outs, though?

It would be nice to get a pre that would have s/pdif so that I could skip the da/ad between it and the presonus. (That works as a soundcard).

I found a few possible candidates:
- Apogee Mini ME 2 channels
- Presonus Digimax 8 channels
- DBX 376
- ART Digital MPA 2 channels

Any ideas on these? I would be mostly using it for recording heavy guitars,
bass and vocals. How much of an improvement would any of these be?

I kinda liked the Firepod pres. They are a whole world better than my previous delta 1010LT card.

........you could go with an ART dpsII. A little cheaper and has spdif and 2 channel
