FirePod S/PDIF into Digi 002r for 2 more channels?

Will this work? I know Digidesign is specific about what devices can play nice with their products. I need the 10 inputs for some drum tracking I'm doing in two weeks.

Otherwise I'm going to have to do Pro Tools for 8 tracks on my laptop and Cubase on my Mac, then sync them together later.

Any suggestions? Buying more isn't an option right now.

The only thing though...

I have no clue how the channels will break down. It's just a summed output of the whole unit, so I don't know if your going to get 2 channels or not.

Hmmm. That's what I was wondering as well. I'll try it out tomorrow if I can find a s/pdif cable laying around. I could always just nix a track and just do 1 channel of s/pdif if all else fails.
