My first remotely "heavy" album I bought was Europe's Final Countdown...yeah, I know, not metal by any stretch of the imagination. That led to Slayer, Morbid Angel, etc. Keep in mind I was only 12 years old when Final Countdown came out...29 now.

That's quite the introduction to metal. Nile was a bit too much for me when I bought Annihilation of the Wicked, and I was already into Slayer and other less brutal death metal at that point.
