Alright, so this is the first song i've recorded with actual recording equipment... the old ones i've done were on a crappy pc by plugging a crappy guitar processor into the crappy sound card.. haha.

anyway, here it is. don't be kind about your comments.. i need pros and cons! i'm trying to make this the best it possibly can be. please and thank you very much. :)

drums: steven slate black kick (took tonssss of highs out) combined two snares.. can't even remember them. maple toms.
guitars: schecter w/ emgs > 5150 lead > Mesa cab > AT2035
bass: straight in, used logic's bass amp modeler.
vocals: AT2035. (I NEED IDEAS FOR ANY EFFECTS TO PUT ON THE VOX!) Right now they're completely dry, and it doesn't sound bad, but maybe they could sound better??

the band is mine, by the way, Forevermore. and I'm the screamer.. hehe.

The bass needs to be much louder. I couldn't even tell it was there aside from a note that held out where the guitars were silent, and even then it was really quiet. The guitars are very mid-rangey also, I am assuming it's because you used the AT2035. If you have 100 bux lying around I'd highly recommend picking up an SM57 for micing guitars. You should try messing around with Compression, EQ and Reverb on the vocals to start out. The drums are okay, they could be better but they aren't bad. I have Steven Slate drums also but so far I've just used it a little bit for sample replacing and haven't cracked the code of programming drums yet so maybe someone else can chime in on that. Good luck broseph.

yeah after listening again i agree about the bass. crap, my bad. the vox are compressed to china and back and have some eq on them. i just meant there's no reverb, delay, anything like that i guess. haha sorry. i actually have a 57.. tried it and didn't like it to be honest. also, i tried scooping the mids out a bit, but the guitars really lose the fullness that they have right now when i do that. :/

could you be more specific about how the drums could be better? thanks!! :))

Cymbals could come up a bit. That's about all I got for the drums actually. As for the 57 not sounding good micing up a 5150 and a mesa cab, well I think you need to experiment a little bit more with it. There are countless awesome tones on here not to mention awesome records recorded with a 5150 and mesa cab with a 57. The AT does sound better than I thought it would especially for the melodic parts, I just feel like the chugs are too mid rangey. Maybe you could experiment doing the fredman micing technique with the AT and the 57 to get the best of both worlds.

cool idea, i'll give it a go.

thanks man. :)

anyone else who wants to put in their opinion.... the more the merrier.

+1 on the guitars and i guess when your done with them you'll have to work on the kick as well.
and pls turn the leads down. try out some verb and delay on the vox...

dang, everyone on the studio central forum is busting my balls for scooping the mids way too much...

so maybe i'll just keep it and stick with the happy medium?? (which was the plan in the first place.. heh)
