This is only my second clip using SSD.
Kick 10, snare 11, 12, and maple toms.
Guitars are LePou legion, but i'm going to reamp them today! hopefully they turn out a little more aggressive!
Bass is just BOD.

We'll be doing vocals later this week, and probably release this song as a single.
I still need to humanize the drums a bit, but what do you guys think I need to work on?
In the past i've had a tendency to let things be a little upper-mid heavy, so i've went out of my way to scoop most things.

I feel like the toms might be a little bit clicky.
I feel like the guitars are just kinda...blah. Lack agressiveness.
Should I compress the bass a little bit more? I feel like my low track of the bass is cutting through a little too much and dominating the mix.

I wanna hear your opinions!

Edit: Reamped guitars:

Edit 2: Took a different approach to my low end bass track and changed a bunch of shit in small ways....I think it sounds worse now.. :( I'm stumped.

Edit 3: Changed around the snare sound for more smack. Backed off compression a bit on the drums in general, eased up on the limiting, and worked on getting a better guitar sound.

I'm guessing that'll be about as good as it gets before mixing in the vocals and keys. Vocals are about half done. :)

The 2nd mix out of the 3 would be where I would start from. Bring everything except the drums down a couple db, I think that will tie everything together better. The left guitar sounds like it could come up a tiny bit to balance with the right side. Put some attack back into the snare and the toms so they cut through better. And it looks like you backed off on the limiter from the first mix but I would go ahead and back it down even more, you dont want to run out of room for your vocals. I always try to set my limiter to only reduce a db or 2 at the most.

And on bass freq control just make sure you're highpass filtering everything that doesn't need to be down there. And I feel the bass but I don't hear it so I think you'll miss that on lesser speakers so try to work some of the punch of the bass back in so it will cut through on smaller speakers

Hope this helps

Nice bass drops :) shook my apt lol

Spent literally all day mixing...I'm descently happy with how it sounds! Still would love to hear someone tear into it though :)

The second mix you posted (reamped) definitely sounds the best to me man. you kind of made it worse with the mix after that. the last mix you did wasnt too bad. but the 2nd is still my favorite. i would work on getting new cymbals though :p and dont pan the crashes so far left and right. the right crash almost seems panned hard right. not a bad mix though
