So I finally recorded drums for the first time.

Here at college me and my buds put together a for-fun metal band so we can perform in the Battle of the Bands and scare the indie rock bands.

Anyways, one of the requirements was to record and submit a demo with 2 original songs and since our drummer had an appropriate interface, I decided to have a go at recording real drums for the first time.

Unfortunately the drums are a crappy yamaha stage custom set from the early 90's, all the heads were really old and worn out, and the room we recorded in was just a giant echo chamber, but since this is just for fun......meh

Here's a processed clip I excitedly mixed last night at 4am after tracking

Here's a clip of the dry drums with no processing.

I'm having trouble with the toms (maybe gating?), and with the HiHat (it got picked up way too much in the overheads)

Also on the processed clip the kick is replaced with a sample and the snare is 50/50

Any pointers or advice on my first drum mix would be greatly appreciated!
