first time using impulses

Hey guys.. i just tried to play through my 5150 preamp out into SIr2 into some impulses.. .but it doesnt sound quite right.
I had my cab connected so i didnt want to play too loud.. the post gain was at 1 1/2 hah
Settings Lead channel Gain 5.5 Low 7 Mid 4 High 6 Res and pres around 9-ish.

Sounds like you're doing it right, just gotta mess with the amp settings.

I boosted the low end with EQ ... should you usually have to do that? and im glad im on the right track

I usually do, yeah. 70-100hz.

Also, when i was recording.. i was getting crackles.. but not digital crackles like.. amp problem crackles... could the tubes be dying?
