Flattr?

A friend just linked me to this article: http://torrentfreak.com/pirate-bays-peter-sunde-starts-money-sharing-site-100212/

I think it (well, at least the concept) actually sounds like a pretty cool distribution channel, especially for project bands and such who would release their stuff for free, anyway. I just kinda feel it'll probably turn into another warez tracker where people who have nothing to do with the material they share actually get paid for doing so, and eventually gets shut down for defeating it's own purpose.

Interesting idea, nonetheless.

Totally awesome idea! I love the minimalistic approach of the video and it seems like a very good concept. I just really really really hope it'll work because it will make things so much easier. I know I would like to donate money to a bunch of people online, mostly musicians who create awesome music and distribute it for free (*cough* Cloudkicker *cough*) but it's always so difficult to do so. A simple Flattr button on the creator's website would make it sooooo much easier. If everyone jumped on this bandwagon, it'd be truly awesome.

I don't dare thinking of the possible exploits though... :(

I'd imagine that associating anything other than your own work with Flattr would be a violation of contract and grounds for a permanent ban.

I can't imagine many would try that, as i'd say things like bank details and such would be involved, making it easy to follow up on any illegal activity.

or maybe im wrong? who knows? :)
