Folk Metal

a line needs to be drawn between viking, folk, heathen, and pagan metal.
Hmm, I can see what you mean but saying that for example Helheim isn't folk metal because they sing about vikings feels abit off. I mean they have a VERY folky sound.

for the record, alot of the previous recs are the darker pagan stuff, if you want the happier stuff, say so. theyre trying to be arrogant metal snobs by avoiding the jolly stuff that has come out over the last few years

dunno what the fuck you're on about mate, 10 of my recs are happy.

i said ALOT, not every one of em. learn to read

and jolly folk metal is awesome. but i imagine lots of you associate it with "gay" power metal. smiling and having a good time is allowed, its ok. we cant be angry all the time...

anyways, if you dig korpiklaani, go in the direction i pointed. but do check out the other stuff, for a dark pagan feel.

Just finished listening to "Narrenkönig" by Schandmaul. Dunno how in the hell to describe it, it's a European version of Sublime or something.

definitely one for any 'happy folk' lover.
