For all you guitarist who have been looking for the Preamp Booster Alexi uses...

that is the biggest ripp-off peice of shit ever

If someone actually paid that much for somthing like that, i feel really sorry for them for being an idiot.

I guess you just don't have a clue, do you?...

The MM04 is a clone of the now discontinued Jackson JE-1000, which was installed in each of Alexi's (and most, if not all of Roope's) first RRs, along with the J-50BC pickup. I have these electronics (JE-1000 & J-50BC) installed in one of my guitars, and it rocks balls. The preamp boost adds so much more to the tone that would have been completely missed otherwise.

But then again, it's just a little electronics dealie with some wires attached to it. What could that possibly be good for?

Aren't these the exact same things that come as stock in every Alexi sig guitar now anyway? I just assumed that they always sold 'em seperately, guess not.

Never tried out a gain booster. Does it add extra hum?

I think so, yeah. Here's 2 clips of the intro riff to COB played with a Jackson, loaded with a J50-BC and a JE-1000. The first one, the boost is off and the 2nd clip, the boost is on (Alexi's sound). I'm not sure if it's going through a GP-1000 or not though.

I mean i really think it would be kind of dumb to pay around 120 dollars american for an alexi laiho booster switch, i mean you can get a EMG PA-2 for about 1/4 that price and those wont color your tone, and i bet your all gonna say "well thats the whole point you idiot, to color your tone and make it totally crushing", well why dont you get somthing more versitile like an Equalizer pedal, Hell an equalizer pedal infront of your amp can boost amp with clean gain, AND you can tweak your tone anyway you want it.

I mean i have nothing against this model in perticular, i just think the whole idea of pre-amp boosting toggleswitches are kinda stupid unless you planned on turning it off and on mid-song which most of you wouldnt because "on alexi's guitar its always on!" and anyways i still think a pedal would be easier for you dont have to stop picking to turn a pedal on.

Call me deaf, but I don't hear much of a difference! :loco: If anything the second clip sounds as if it has more midrange, like a wah pedal in between positions.

gainbooster + active AHB-1 = super fucking redundant.

honesltly, the reason they've waited so long to release the booster is because they needed to sell out of the guitars that they had made without it so people didnt think they were buying an out of date version. and it still hasn't been released for the USA yet, for this reason. IMO, once they start actually loading alexi's guitars with seymours (assuming he sticks with seymour duncan) they'll stop loading the gain booster on his guitars and just sell it as a replacement part. So at this point i wouldn't bother buying it unless of course you actually liked the HZ-4 + booster AYDY tone ;)

149.00 AUD = 121.544 USD

What a fucking joke.

Anyone who buys that is automatically owned by faggotry. When i was a fanboy, i got this
