Can you re-sell these products or buy them second hand?

I have three packages here im not using at all, symphonic choirs, symphonic orchestra gold and silver.
I was wondering if i can sell them now.. or are they attached to one computer/user?

Yes, the wordbuilder software is included as well..

Also, just had a look at the website and my manual.. i bought these products as soon as they came out, so no i-lok needed, just registration through the native instruments website.. the codes are all included with the software, the only thing needed is a new system ID.

So my guess is it is not limited to one computer.. because say my computer's HDD crashes, am i supposed to rebuy the software then? would be a bit harsh.
I think (and i will double check offcourse) that one could install this used once software to a new PC, install and then gets prompted to insert the authorization codes.. you can then go online, let native instruments know that the software is now running on a new PC, and then get a new system ID and you just use the codes.

It will still be great if anyone can actually confirm this, as im not finding any second hand east west products on ebay at all.. which is a bit weird as they are quite popular.

I have Drumkit From Hell 2 which is an EW release and NOT a ToonTrack release, with a Native Instruments sample player. I was able to register it to three different comps over the years. Haven't tried a 4th yet...

Nobody, unless they also purchased the same Sample CD or downloaded the same sound sample. Only the ORIGINAL PURCHASER has the right to use the sound samples. This means you CANNOT SELL or give the sounds to anyone else. If you do, and they use the sounds within a commercial release, they, or anyone associated with the distribution of the music, may face legal action from the producer of the sounds. Many of these cases have resulted in multi-million dollar awards to the producer, and ruined the reputation and future job prospects of the composer. It is simply not worth using the sounds 'illegally'.

Right, i think i have room left for 2 more seperate system ID's as well, meaning it can be registered to two other computers per software.

And the next step after that is cancelling my system ID, and create room for a new one.. meaning i can no longer use the software, and the new user can.

Still weird there are no hits on ebay though.. im going to keep searching.

I tried to return it to sweetwater ( with the iLok, no less ) and I was told I couldn't return it. So I inquire about selling it to someone who it might work better for. Nope, can't do that.

So I paid $300 for a program that doesn't work and I can't get my money back, or even resell it to recoup some losses and get VSL SE.

They are pretty hardcore about their policy... Which is pretty annoying since I couldn't even make an illegal copy if I wanted to! The iLok is uncracked as far as I know.

From what I've read on KVR, their licenses are non-transferable. I was very close to getting one of their really attractive deals, but the combination of the buggy PLAY system and harsh policies turned me off. It's a pity too because their libraries sound awesome.

It works... but barely. I can't run more than three or four instances at any given time, it will crash everything and I'll have to restart Reaper.

Also, if I close Reaper with an instance of Silver running, it'll crash the project... and I have to perform some necromancy to get the project open again, and then disable the plugin, just to even open it!

So in order to use Silver, this is my procedure:
1) Insert MIDI, insert Silver instance
2) Adjust MIDI so it sounds good
3) Render the MIDI into Audio
4) Listen to the entire track to make sure EWQLSO didn't have any rendering/sampling errors. Here's an example of a blooper I've had: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=442291&songID=7272108
5) Delete the Silver instance.

Rinse and repeat. It's not so bad for one instrument... but when I'm working with a 15 voice symphonic piece its a NIGHTMARE. Really kills the creative impulse

But for some people it works perfectly. Not for me. There's no way to test-drive the software to make sure it works. And there's no way to sell it or return it if it doesn't. So... its just not worth the risk in my opinion. I'd rather spend a little more and get VSL. Especially since the VSL samples are dry, whereas the EW samples have a shitload of reverb.

I think the problem is that they don't really support Reaper. I'Ve read about reaper user complaining they had a lot of problems with it and EW support was complete crap. I'm using Cubase so I think I'll take a risk cause I really want Voices of ¨Passion and Gypsy haha. Or SD2 I don't know. And I think for Symphonic Orchestra their version Platinum has 3 different mics, and one is close so no reverb. Not sure though.

EWQL PLAY libraries work on my PC in Reaper, although it seems to bring the computer to its knees. I do all my EWQL stuff in a separate project, render it, then bring it into my main mix project. There's no way I'd even consider running a PLAY instrument with everything else I've got going on.

But on the main topic, with EastWest, VSL, ProjectSAM, Spectrasonics...actually any sample library - you're purchasing a license to use the sounds, not the sounds themselves.

What's your RAM usage like? Probably more of a Windows limitation than fault of Reaper or the plugin.
By default a windows program can only use 2GB (of 4) max, with the "3GB switch" in the boot.ini you can change that to 2.7GB for 1 program. Can make a big difference with VIs. Only works if the DAW is "Large address Aware", don't know if Reaper is.

I thought it was that, but I tried loading a few of the smaller sample sets, with nothing else running. RAM usage would only be a little over a GB for the machine total, and it'd still crash. Which leads me to believe its a problem with PLAY, since I can load two or three instances of S2.0 without experiencing any problems.
