Sure, you can slide and you will even keep some of the harmonic sound, but the normal fretted string sound will be louder than the harmonic....

I play fretted bass (I just love fretnoise) but after almost 3years of playing I found out, that my techniques are in many ways similar to SdG.. I have almost no inspirations (except the melodic feel of Justin Chancellor - Tool) - everything comes straight from my head.
I use cheap (but nice) Ibanez GSR205 with low profile (1mm tall/3mm wide) frets.. feels almost fretless when sliding (but harmonic slides are! impossible) but I still have fretnoise..

PS. I don't play covers!
