I was just perusing youtube today and this came up in my subscribed hibbity jibs, so I figured this would be a good place to cross post.

I have been into K5 for a while now ever since I heard the track "Evil Princess" (the original not the re-recorded version) , which is still one of my favorites from the band.

20 minutes and no OrbWeaver reply yet?
She must be busy!

1. I've seen this video.
2. I have a life, unlike some people here on the ProgPower forums who have nothing better to do than to post useless comments, day in and day out.

:Saint:

Biffle, were you at the Midwest Metal Anthem when Kat-V played in 2008? Scott Huffman sang Evil Princess with the band, and it was pretty much amazing.

I unfortunately have never seen Katagory V live, but maybe they will play Kansas City Power Metal Fest this year??!?!! :crosses fingers:

I really liked 'em a lot! I definitely liked the vocals! Excellent range & great notes! I loved the music as well! I heard everything from Spiral Architect to Edguy & Evergrey w/ some Meliah Rage & Iron Maiden mixed in! Good shizzle imho! And lately, I'm hard to please w/ new bands!
I'm just old skool! I guess I always will be until the day I die! Oh yeah, ditto on the very killer Running Wild shirt! Also one of my faves from back in the day! :kickass:

Thanks a lot, DrkLrdViper666!

I know you don't like just anything, so it's quite a compliment to know that you're digging the clips! Let's hope you enjoy the real deal even more!

Stay metal. Never rust.
Albert

The dude is Dustin and he is a PP regular and a great guy.
Agreed that Dustin is a great guy and a damn good writer.

LOL… geez, thanks for the props! I am glad that I’m not portrayed as an asshole like most people. Seriously, thanks for the kind words! But you know what they say… Nice guys finish last.

I'm crossing my fingers on that one too, that would be a fun Fest to get in on. It would be cool to play a show in your stomping grounds!

Nehoo, the new album sounds promising. I can't wait for the release. Keep up the good work guys!!!

Thanks!!! :kickass:

Thanks for the feedback!!! :rock::kickass::notworthy

It's ironic you pointed out so many different bands that range in so many different styles and sounds… you totally get what Katagory V is about! For us, being "Progressive" is not about a playing a thousand fast notes in a solo, long songs, odd-meters and complicated arrangements (although we do it on occasion), it's about doing what we want and wearing our influences on our sleeve, no matter what style/band that is. Be it old-school thrash, 80's hard rock, German power metal, NYHC… whatever… we're not elitists, we're just music fans too.

Sadly, this is something that most people (the general metal fan, media, labels) DON'T like about us, and thus, why we're a hard sell, easily overlooked and/or often deadpanned. Bah… Fuck them.

I like the dude's RUNNING WILD shirt!
If this band sounded like RW, I would be into em for sure!
Oh yeah, ditto on the very killer Running Wild shirt! Also one of my faves from back in the day!

I'm glad you all like the shirt - Wardrobe for the video courtesy of Exploding Neds!

I really shouldn't even post this, as it's a rather embarrassing version IMHO, several years old, and quite frankly, not even near as good as the original, but most people (including our actual fans) don't even know this exists. However, since we're talking about one of the greatest German metal bands ever; and as ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this...

"What the hell..."
