Didn't have time to finish this today so there are some obvious parts missing but I thought I'd check in and see what you guys thought of the tone so far.

Common people. Almost 20 views and not one comment? If you're gonna take the time to listen to it you might as well say what you like or don't like about it.

The guitar tone sounds pretty darned good so far, but that snare and the kick are overcompressed to hell and it's skewing the overall mix for me.

The guitar tone itself sound pretty good... a tad bit scooped, but I dig it... the amount of mids needed is really dictated by (IMHO) what type of songs it is, not necessarily the style...

Sound good... ease back on whatever it is that is making the drums sound like a square peg being shoved through a round hole...

EDIT: Above was mix one...

mix two... I would say up the mids ever-so-slightly on the guitars and give them a tad more presence... if you do those two then you might not need to bring the guitars up at all... but right now the drums are slightly overpowering the guitars...

Thanks for the tips man, and especially for taking the time to give them.

Whoa there, Cowboy. Drums are overpowering the guitars? No, you can hear the guitars AND the drums, at the same time. It's a bit too much compression, but I don't agree that guitars need to be louder.

My main problem with the mix is the choice of drum samples rather than the compression.
I'd say you need to pick some better fitting samples

Drums are still overcompressed. The kick isn't bad at all, though. You could lower the kick volume a bit and leave it just as compressed, but that snare is killing me.

i really like your guitar tone overall. the snare sample is awful the kick is meh. but again very nice guitars so far.
