Congrats, man. How many is that now?
This will be # 3. Either me or the wife is getting "fixed" after this one. I'm guessing it'll probably be me since I hear it's much easier and less invasive for the guy to get it done. Still scares the fuck out of me though. :ill:

KY442 - i had the procedure done last summer, you feel one pinch when they insert the novacaine...thats about it. You'll smell it when they cauterize it, but i went to work that night with some ice no problem.

Just make sure you go back for your follow up to make sure the little soliders are dead.

Oh yeah...you'll need lots of "attention" becuase you have to vacate your premises :D

Three. Wow. How old are the other two? When is she due?

I used to want three, but it never worked out that way. Not only can I not afford it, but my kids are getting older and I don't want a giant age gap between them, as the first two are 19 months apart. My sister and I are 10 years apart and I never wanted anything close to that for my own kids.

It's actually about the same as far as recovery time goes, but my husband refuses to get it done because he heard about a study that says it increases the chances of prostate cancer by a buttload. Also, after seeing his reaction after one of the kids accidently kicks him in the nuts, I'm sure as hell not going to send him in to get cut and then have to deal with him afterward.

I don't mind getting it done though, because even if I end up with another man at some point in my life, I'm still done having kids. I'm going to talk to the doctor in a couple of weeks about it, but I probably won't have it done for at least a few months, til I have a few days to take off of work. I know it's not a hard recovery, but they probably advise against lifting 40 pound boxes, too.

Congratulations! Were you trying to have another child?

I have a friend and after she and her husband had their third child, they decided it was time for one of them to get "fixed." She opted to have the surgery done. She went to the doctor, had the surgery and two weeks later found out she was already 4-6 weeks pregnant (I don't remember the exact timing). The doctor didn't give her a pregnancy test at the time of her surgery and when he asked if she was pregnant, she said no. 9 months later - TWINS. Now they have 5 kids.

Whats the moral of this story? Nothing really. Sometimes I just like to hear myself type.

Don't worry about the procedure. You'll be fine.

Fuck that, I would never get "fixed" !! I can take the pain just fine. I've been in car accidents, and all sorts of ailments that needed surgery including a kidney stone.

I don't mind putting myselft at risk to cancer. I'm in the sun all the time and I spend alot of time in smoky bars.

My biggest problem with the procedure is the idea of killing my sperm. I've had some scares in my life but I've never knocked up any chick. Condoms worked just fine and with the others, they were on birth control. If I would ever slip one past the goalie, I figure it was meant to be.

If I had a nickle for every time I killed my sperm, I'd have about
$1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

Brat, we have 2 boys ages 3 & 6. We had decided on having another one and apparantly it happened on our 1st or 2nd attempt. :) I'd never heard about the increased risk of prostate cancer before. Definitely something to consider since prostate trouble runs in my family so thanks for the heads up on that.
