FREE VST -= CENTRAL THREAD =-

OK, for the sake of completeness I'll post my list of faves:

EQs: Electri-Q-posihfopit, Pushtec, LinearPhaseEQ 1 + 2, Nyquist EQ 5, IIEQ

Dynamics: Endorphin, Dominion & The Fish Fillets, C3 Multiband, All the GVST-Stuff, All Buzzroom Comps

Reverb: SIR, Anwida DX Reverb Light, Ambience, Glaceverb

Modeling: Guitarsuite, The BTEs, Extremist

Modulation: SupaPhaser, RetroDelay, BassChorus & BassPhaser

Go for the MB Plugs and the great Voxengo freeware. You might try the Nebula 2 free (you'll have to create an acount) and the
Antress-Stuff as well (though they create some artifacts - they might be usefull from time to time...).

Have fun, and stay heavy despite of all the software :headbang:

thanks to all who posted here, i've got a looong list of stuff to try now

btw, here's a list of stuff from another board (sorry for anything that's already posted here):

Best VST Dynamic Processor

Blockfish for vocals, endorfin for full mix. They don't have the nice waveform visual that many plugs have, but I like the sound of them. Very good manuals as well.

Best VST Reverb

Free convolution/impulse based verb. Very realistic tones.

Best VST Amp Sim

Voxengo Boogex

Good sim mixed with convolution modeled cab/mic/verb.

Best Free DirectX Audio Suite

Blue-Line Plugs. I downloaded this one years ago. As far as free DirectX, this is about it. The website state "Now discontinued but still available for download". Complete suite including multi tap delay, compressor, filter, stereo enhancment, etc

Best Source for Free Soundfonts

HammerSound. Lot of garbage here too, but some good can be found. Using creative's vienna editor, you can strip the samples out to use with whatever softsyth you prefer.

And Finally, the Best Overall Source for free stuff

You can find a plethora of free stuff here.

can anyone point me toward a decent free plugin that can be used for quick/easy mastering? something like psp vintage warmer?

not for doing pro projects of course, just demo stuff i fiddle around with at home, and wanna get a decent level on

If you just wanna use one plug, try the endorphin! It's fast and sounds good.

EDIT: ARRRGH!!! You just mentioned the endorphin yourself!!! I'm a stupid a******. SHAME ON ME

yeah, that one's pretty good...i need to mess around with it more

i was just curious as to whether anyone knew some others

i've gotta get off my lazy ass and buy some of the psp stuff soon, they have some really great offerings

This thread is Awesome.

I must say that I have had great results with the Digital Fishphones stuff. and the Classic Series plugs from Kjaerhus. Presets are good and a great starting point for most of the stuff I'm doing (with a little tweak for the track of course).

However, I have not had good results with the Antress plugs. Maybe its my limited resources (1.5 Ghz P4 and 1Gig Ram) with Cubase. I always seem to be locking up with the 1176 emulation, which is the one I would have loved to use. However, My Blockfish from Digital Fishphones is filling that role nicely.

The Kjaerhus stuff is nice, but their gold series is phenomenal for the price (but not free).

Anwida has a lite version of their product that is free and is the best free reverb plugin that I've used...and it doesn't suck a lot of CPU cycles like the others. http://www.anwida.com/product.asp?pid=7
