Freedom Call - Beyond - Awesome!!

The last album of this band didn't do much for me at all except for maybe a couple of songs, and some god awful ones...... With "Beyond" the band is back to making wonderful engaging, catching happy metal music ......

I never had a problem with the "happy" part. I know it's not for everyone, but I've always wondering why so many people have a problem with "happy" but not "angry"??? I mean, happiness if the opposite of angry, so why not have both??? so I never had an issue with it.... I like both kinds of music actually....

But anyway, I'm loving the new stuff.....Cheesy and Happy as it may be

Hehe, yea I agree. I liked Eternity, and ShadowKing, but I didn't care for Land of the Crimson Dawn, but with Beyond, they are going back to a catchy and epic sound with absolutely huge bombastic choruses......

Cool. I don't listen to a huge amount of ultra-happy melodic power metal these days, but Freedom Call's first few albums are some of the best of that subgenre, and their last couple have not been as good. I'll have to check out this new one.

I enjoyed the album while I played it, and a week later can't remember a single song from it. Their first three are always going to be my go-to FC albums.

I would agree mostly. However, the chorus to the title track sticks in my head. Awesome song and best they have done in ages.

It's a companion piece to "The Quest" off Crystal Empire. As such I'd say it works pretty well. I'd even go so far as to say it surpasses it.

After Hearing "Beyond" again, I think it blows away anything they've ever done.... The choruses seem to be 10X bombastic than I'm use to from Freedom Call....I feel like I'm listening to Gamma Ray's "Land of the Free" in many places.... Every song has a very sing-along HUGE chorus that I just can't get out of my head.... I think "Stairway to fairyland" is much more "thin" sounding too compared to "Beyond".... "Beyond" just sounds so much more rich in production and every song has that "huge" feeling to it...

Yep, and even most of the reviews I've been reading are saying that this is the best thing the band has ever done period, and I agree....All of the melodies are very engaging. Plus, it's nice variety. Not all of the songs are super fast power metal songs. They really mix up the tempo... I still have the huge choruses of "coming home" and "beyond eternity" stuck in my head from only 2 playings.....

Some of the songs are so bombastic that they sound like metal showtunes, lol......

Everyone has their own opinion, but I think "stairway to fairyland" is weak compared to this when it comes to song structure, song variety, production and vocals....

Yea, "Beyond" is definitely awesome.... I still think, in my opinion that it's the best thing Freedom Call has ever done....The Chorus of almost each song is such a soaring catchy anthem, and the production is huge........... and to top it off, the album clocks in at just under an hour..... I can't wait to listen to this on a really good powerful stereo system............
