Fact for ya Einstein, its possible to like more than one genre of music. Its also possible to not like another genre.

I agree completely. There's a certain type of uncreative power metal that usually seems to come from Germany and Finland that I just can't stand. But I love a lot of power metal. I probably listen to more power metal than most of the "power metal fanatics" on this board. Just seems like everyone here only discusses the weak power metal bands.

I'll probably pick up that Pagan's Mind soon. Love the music, but the vocalist reminds me of Ralf Sheepers for some reason, of the crappy German power metal band Primal Fear. Of course, I only heard 1 song.

3. I have no disdain for power metal. I have disdain for crappy power metal. Power metal is my 2nd favorite metal sub-genre. I have stuck up for power metal in several threads on the Opeth board. Now those guys really hate power metal.
 
Easy, now. I said "some" balls. Nobody is accusing Freedom Call of cracking any skulls around the world. A band like Enchant on the other hand is only softly massaging male testicles around the globe. I'm just not that much of an old man to spin something like that. And I'll never spin something just so I can claim to be "different" or standoffish.

I'll hear any Pretty Maids comments when Enchant has made a career of nearly 20 years. Otherwise, they're a johnny-come-lately.

I had more of the other bands BECAUSE THEY HAD MORE RELEASES OUT. Are you blind? Did all the EDGUY, IMPELLITTERI, EUROPE, and EIDOLON CDs get blocked by your SELECTIVE READING? Last I knew Edguy was power metal, Impellitteri was basic Hard Rock, Eurpe is 80s Hard Rock, and Eidolon was thrash metal. Get a clue.

I have an attitude? Dude all I said was Im not a fan over over redundant/repetitive power metal, and then I was slammed as a prog snob when in fact I love ALL KINDS OF DIFFERENT METAL. Stop defending your boyfriend, and start making some sense.

I've never even met Jim actually, I just have a clue about what he's into since I've been in the metal scene for quite awhile. So he's hardly my "boyfriend" as you put it. But that was a really well-thought out insult. :rolleyes:

Also, and I can see how you misconstrue this, but I wasn't actually saying you HAVE an attitude. I was attempting to say that the attitude you display in public wouldn't make the casual observer think you WEREN'T a prog-snob, let's put it that way.

And lastly, for the record, I had 90% of those hair metal bands and even liked them quite a bit at one point. The difference is that I grew up, whereas you perhaps didn't.

I don't know why you get so irate, you should switch to decaf or something. No one else here is getting their panties in a bunch.

Well maybe not a good chunk of idiots, but a few definately. The comments by some speak for themselves. As to why I post here is because Im a fan of THE EVENT, and some of THE BANDS, thats why. Last I knew I went to concerts for the bands , not the people. Yes Prog Power is intimate, and Im sure theres TONS and TONS of awesome people, but theres always some morons, no matter what you do, or where you go.

Also Im not stuck on myself, Im simply making a comment BASED OFF WHAT I HAVE READ.

Anyways I think we should all just really move on. We are here to have a good time, and enjoy the genre of music we love so much. Also we should all be able to have our own opinions about bands, w/o being called names, or even snobs for that matter. :p :)

In the end its all a matter of personal taste.

I can at least state with certainty that there were MANY, MANY people who I met and who met me and will attest to the kind of person I am. You, I don't worry about. You specifically mention "Last I knew I went to concerts for the bands , not the people."

I'm not surprised. I highly doubt you're an easy person to get along with. I can safely say the same is NOT true for me. Comment all you wish, I'm done with YOU in particular.

One of the best parts of Prog Power is meeting your friends from all over the planet, as well as meeting new people every year.
I'm not a huge people person, but this is 50% of the draw of Prog Power for me. It's like a weekend with your buddies, and a TON of great music. If I can get along with PoS fans, I can get along with ANYBODY! :)
