French Music?

I'm looking for songs, male or female vocals, that have a 1940's feel. Like this song from the deodorant commercial. The Deth boards were absolutely useless.

what does this have to do with the 40's? i mean it has electric guitars and sounds like nothing liek 1940s anyway

this is french and from the time requested:

edith piaf seems like an obvious choice.
this one is pretty well-known tho quite a bit later:

i guess you can just click through the songs and check if you find something you like

When I think 1940's I think Big Band Jazz. Cab Calloway, Dizzie Gillespie, Artie Shaw, Bing Crosby, Billie Holiday and Glenn Miller were the giants of the 40s, and swing was still king.

Not at all Big Band or jazz, but I always dug this chick. She's actually Italian but I think lives in France, and obviously speaks perfect French so that's probably where she was raised.
