Fried Okra

^ They do have Okra in warmer parts of Europe though... Spain, Italy, Greece, Israel, Portugal.. I wonder if the cold weather has anything to do with the import of Okra to the rest of Europe?
OR is it because they just wouldn't understand or appreciate the greatness of this yummy thing!

You really must be frustrated that Israel is NOT in Europe

I'm flattered my post made someone register and start an account! w00t!

...and while I didn't mean anything politically or geographically by my previous statement, often certain countries are being "grouped" into another group much like "europe" as a whole.
Israel, turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Serbia etc.... are not members of the EU per-se, but a "part" of the whole group. They all play in the Euro Cup, sing songs in the Eurovision and play a role in some of the politics.

back to Okra.......

^ what an awesome picture!

ok I tried a new okra thing... I fried the okra crispy in olive oil and then made a spicy red sauce with garlic and crushed red pepper, added the okra and served over whole wheat rotini, with some fresh grated parmigiana reggiano cheese....it was AWESOME

It doesn't taste like anything I can think of, and it really depends on the way you cook it too.
Yes, the slight slimy texture turns a lot of people I know off of it... but it's really great!

neal, Im not from the south and I love it :D You really gotta know how to make it right though. :)
