From another board, this is awful

Perhaps. Been trying to find an article I read a while ago about a parrot that was apparently able to communicate intelligently and, suspiciously, through telekinesis of some sort with humans. If this were the case, the idea of animals becoming self-aware and rational would likely blur the line Aristotle tried to draw between humans and all non-humans.

I did not watch the video either, the idea makes me sicker then i already am.
I did sign the petition.

They have no souls, in short.

Than why are there entities, that connect with the living? (and vice versa.)
I believe every living creature has a soul and i think humans are less aware of it, than animals.
When a creature dies, it's soul remains as an entity.
Nothing organic, is soulless.

It's a difficult debate. Logically, it's abhorrent that we eat meat (counter-arguments tend to be misleading) but nonetheless, the meat industry is huge and I doubt that'll ever change. Given the situation, all that can be done is to seek humane treatment for animals bred for our consumption/enjoyment. In very real terms, I'm not against the eating of meat in the slightest, only the fact that we are all so out of touch with what we eat it's hardly tangible anymore.

Also, it's sad that emotional blackmail has to be employed for people to give a toss.

It sure is a difficult debate. I'm not against eating meat neither. Meat is important component of metabolism and it is hard (not impossible) to completly replace it. What I'm aginst is using animals to get fur for JLo's new shoes or to test new mascara or DNage cream (whoever though of this bulshit is an idiot -but it's another topic). I usually sign petitions against testings and try not to buy products which are tested on animals.

The rub here being the idea that you believe this is the case. Nothing has never been made more True just because of belief. It's quite possible that the flesh is the totality, notions above and beyond that could be quite futile. Moreover, death could indeed be the end. Death is the ultimate termination of an organism and everything associated with it. (to paraphrase Chomsky, I think).

Same here.
