Fuck (most) Raider fans

Haha..."hardcore"? Most of those man-pole lovers just like to get dressed up. Well, it's only across the bay to the gay capital of the world.
I HOPE Tennessee kills the Raiders. If not, Philly or Tampa could/would mangle them anyway. Either way, they lose.

Did a Raiders fan pee on your Wheaties or something? Or maybe a gay man? You sure seem to have some serious issues with both groups..

Lady, you know how the saying goes...

"Don't feed the trolls!" John Edwards has not made ONE SINGLE intelligent post in his brief time here at UM, and has actually distinguised himself as one of the more visible idiots around here, which is no small accomplishment!

Besides, according to him, "Society is a joke" and he likes "bitches, Mexican food and lifting weights!"

*laughs and points* Ha ha, everyone, look at the troll!

The trolls seem to be multiplying like rabbits as of late..must be the cold weather, they can't go outside and play so they have to find some other way of entertaining themselves.

There have been many trolls lately... but I hate the Raiders too. :D

Did anybody watch that Steelers / Titans game? BRUTAL!!! There is no way a totally banged up team can beat the Raiders this weekend, but I hope the Bucs take them out in the Superbowl.

May the winning team, uh, win.

Ah here we go, this seems like a better place to discuss this, eh mark? First of all I will admit that at the moment the Raiders are better than the Jets, and they outplayed them last Sunday. And you ask what difference having Pennington in the whole season will do? Well lets see, Jets with Vinny: 1-3, Jets with Pennington: 8-4. If coming back to make the playoffs from a 1-3 start is luck to you, than I want to know what you consider skill. Jets would have easily clinched the AFC East if Chad started the season. And in the first game the Jets only lost by 6, and they did have a shot at a comeback (not a very good one, but still...). I also wouldn't call a team that won their first one game 41-0 a "pretender". Jets are still young, and I bet half the Raiders retire if they win the Super Bowl. Also, lets see what happens if we get these guys in Giants Stadium and outta that damn Black Hole (I'll admit you guys are a little frightening  , except for the idiots in the Darth Vader costumes). By the way, I dont want to start any serious arguements here, just some friendly football talk :D

And if you don't like sports, why would you even look at this thread?

Ok, that's true. They went 8-4 the rest of the season. TWO of those losses came against Oakland.

If coming back to make the playoffs from a 1-3 start is luck to you, than I want to know what you consider skill. Jets would have easily clinched the AFC East if Chad started the season.

Unfortunately, you're still only guessing and speculating. You simply don't know that. The Raiders developed the blueprint for how to shut Chad & the Jets down; what's to say that some other team wouldn't have figured it out earlier and the Jets wouldn't have rolled down the stretch? You just don't know that. The only thing you DO know (because it's a fact) is that the Jets made the playoffs thanks to Miami completely COLLAPSING against New England. Otherwise, this is a moot point.

I would still call them lucky, and I would still call them pretenders. I mean, you're not actually saying that because the Jets crushed both Green Bay & Indy that they were that good, are you? Indy was perhaps the worst team to make the playoffs, and Green Bay was quite possibly the worst 12-4 team in the *history* of the NFL. Did you happen to check their division? Did you see their performance against Atlanta AT HOME, the vaunted Lambeau Field? The Jets were riding high and reading their own headlines.

Jets are still young, and I bet half the Raiders retire if they win the Super Bowl.

Actually, just how young are the Jets? Besides Abraham & Pennington, they're *not* that young. Moss is right now not a good WR, period. Coles is very good, but can he carry a team? No. Their OL is not good. Their DL is not good at all, and they're incredibly weak at LB and secondary. I think they'll be a good team, but don't book your travel to the SuperBowl next year just yet.

As for the Raiders mostly retiring, you clearly don't know the team like I do. It's completely true that they're way, way over the salaray cap and need to lose some of their high-priced stars, but they're certainly not too old. I assume you're talking about Rice, Brown, Romanowski, Gannon, R.Woodson, T.Armstrong and some others. Brown *will* almost definitely retire, as will most likely Trace Armstrong (who btw, missed 6 games this year and was hardly a factor). But R.Woodson, Gannon, Romo & Rice had stellar years. They certainly didn't look old to me. Did they to you?

Also, lets see what happens if we get these guys in Giants Stadium and outta that damn Black Hole (I'll admit you guys are a little frightening  , except for the idiots in the Darth Vader costumes).

This is what you're forgetting. For starters, the Jets under Herman Edwards have been much *better* on the road, and the Raiders just play their game. It doesn't matter if it's in the Black Hole, or Giants Stadium, or Invesco Field, or wherever. They play their game and that's it. Also, for the record, I suggest you go and check the Jets/Raiders series history. It's so one-sided it's laughable. People forget that before these past 3 years, which were all at Oakland, the Jets & Raiders played 3 straight at Giants Stadium. The Jets won 1 of the 3, and only because they blocked a FG for the game-winning TD (I was there, I should know). There haven't been many lopsided dominant series like the Jets and the Raiders in the NFL. As for having to play in Oakland 4 times in the past 2 years, all I can say is that the Jets have no one to blame but themselves. If they don't lose to Cleveland & Kansas City AT HOME WITH CHAD AS THE STARTING QB and don't lose to CHICAGO WITH CHAD AS THE STARTING QB, well, maybe they'd host a playoff game. As they say, you want homefield advantage? Win your games. 'Nuff said.

By the way, I dont want to start any serious arguements here, just some friendly football talk :D

Np, I kept it nice. Just don't put down my Raiders unless you've done your homework. I'm a DIEHARD fan of the team, and have been for 23 years. And this IS our year.

Well, if teams didn't start figuring it out after 12 games, I don't see why they would have done it after 4 more. I know that the Jets got lucky how everything fell into place, but I still think that with Pennington at quarterback the Jets were the right team to win the AFC East. And Miami lost because of their own stupidity, they could have easily won that game with the right play calling. They have nobody to blame but themselves.

Maybe the Packers weren't a 12-4 team, but you can't call them a bad team. And I still consider beating ANY playoff team 41-0 an accomplishment. Bottom line, Jets got lucky, but they did what they needed to do to get into the playoffs. On the other hand, the Raiders did exactly what they needed to do to shut down the Jets. The Raiders simply outplayed the Jets, and I know that.

Lets see, Pennington is 26, Abraham is 23, Moss is 23 (I think), Coles is 23, Martin is 28, and Chrebet is 28. Moss is one of the fastest recievers in the league, and in my opinion him and Coles are some of the best recievers at running after the catch. There OL needs work, same with the DL. And the LB is incredibly weak? Sam Cowart put up some impressive numbers this year, and Mo Lewis and Marvin Jones certainly aren't bad. Secondary sucks, I'll admit that. I also know that the Jets aren't a Super Bowl team yet, but I still think they earned their playoff spot, and a little more respect than you're giving.

Both the Cleveland and Chicago games were very tough to watch. But the Cleveland game had nothing to do with Pennington, it was the defense that slipped, so leave him out of that. Again, you never know what would have happened with Pennington in the first four games. He's not going to win every game, but he won the games he needed to (except for last week of course), and even more important he is 100x a better leader than Vinny.

Well, its kind of hard to do 23 years worth of homework when I'm only 15 :) And I was more defending the Jets than trying to put down the Raiders.

And I'm trying this whole quote thing for the first time, hopefully I didn't massively screw this up.

You did pretty good. ;) I can respect the passion that you defend your team with, and it's cool if we disagree on some things here. It's good to be a GOOD fan, if you know what I mean.

My girlfriend is the biggest Jets fan I know (I even took her to 3 games), so I'm used to this debate. Hell, I even root for the Jets as long as they're not playing the Raiders!

I really enjoy these kind of conversations, especially with someone who knows what they are talking about and doesn't always resort to flaming ;) I was at the Jets-Indy game two weeks ago (almost the highest row in the stadium :) ) , and the crowd was so pumped for the first half. After the first touchdown they did the huge J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS louder than I've ever heard. The crowd died down towards the end of the 3rd quarter, but thats because it was already like 31-0

My thoughts exactly :p Almost a minute between each pitch, and even when something happens its not that exciting. I don't understand how people can enjoy watching baseball but call soccer boring.

Just wanted to bump this. :)

Oh yeah, hey John?

This should be an interesting superbowl, best offense in the league vs the best defense. One question though, why does the game officially start at 6:18 EST. Doesn't that seem a little wierd?
