Fucking awesome...

Zod: Damn, stop cutting a post (and sentences) into separate pieces, you are altering their meaning, the way you want (in the "Black Wind Fire And Steel" case for example).
I only cut like that, for the sake of brevity. And when I do so, I always use an ellipsis to denote the cut. I have no interest in trying to change the meaning. Anyone who wants to know what you actually said, can look above and read your actual post.

Interesting that the folks who have a problem with "Fighting" were five years old when it was released. That's not intended as an insult, merely an observation.

Zod

Yeah, I was 7.

And I was 4, when Hail To England and Into Glory Ride was released.

What's your point?

My point is simply that perspective influences perception. Not actually a novel concept. As I said when I originally pointed this out, I'm merely making an observation. That said, I fully expected IotS to read some sort of insult into it, even though I stated it wasn't.

Yeah, but you're addressing it to people who are saying the albums released in 1984 and prior are superior to the ones released later. I would agree with your comment in another situation but it's moot in this circumstance imho.

I disagree. The fact that the people who are old enough to have purchased the disc when it came out like it, and those who weren't don't, proves that the observation is worth noting. I think you, Erik and IotS prefer the older stuff because it fits in with the "epic" stuff you look for in more current artists. But the music that is great, simply because it was fun music/music for its time, you don't have the same appreciation for.

I didn't read any sort of insult into it. My "observation" was that what you said is going on with "Fighting The World", happens with every single album and every single person in the world.

Do you have any idea how MANY people who bought the album when it was released dislike it ?

I see where you are coming from now. It's something I probably wouldn't be able to argue against because I actually didn't experience it. But in restrospect, my judgement stands - the early Manowar absolutely kills the later mediocrity output, no two-ways about that. Basically, two different ways of looking at it. I must admit that the older bands had it nailed a lot better than most current bands.

Well, the sarcasm in this remark seemed to suggest you were insulted.

Wow, how rare, i suppose most people dislike many albums that were released when they were 5 year old.

No clue. However, at the time, most of my friends were Metalheads. I recall it being a very popular release.

I'll fully admit, I'm brand new to Manowar. I don't know why but in the 80's, they were always on the sidelines. You had Maiden, Van Halen, Metallica, etc all playing world tours ("monsters of rock" type deals) but never Manowar.....I have no idea why. Maybe it's a UK thing because they've obviously got an old die-hard following in Greece, Germany, and Italy. (And Japan too I assume?)

Anyway, here's a question for some of you: I only have MP3s of early Manowar -- like I said, I'm new to the band and so wanted to test the waters -- but is the production quality difference between Hail to England and Into Glory Ride significantly different? Or do I have shitty rips?

Hail to England sounds phenomenal -- crystal clear, everything up front, etc. Into Glory Ride, on the other hand, sounds meek and quiet. Talk to me.
