fucking TRIALS...raw mean and menacing

not much quantizing on this one (just moving single hits a bit when they were too far off).
almost no samples used (20% added to kick and snare...except the acoustic section which is all natural (minus the room reverb/samples).

on the heavy seciotn I blended a bit of a ringy sample in to get the snare to sound even more dangerous (LSD snare 2 I think it was)...still lots of the original mic in there....

and yes, I know...most of you will hate the drums...but that's just cause they're so aggressive it scares the fuck out of you....amirite??!?!

dude, AMAZING. what'd you use on guitars? they've got the HUGE, chewy, almost oscillating thing happening (only way I can describe when I hear really well recorded guitars).. where they just command space and hugeness.

I think the guitars are overwhelming the mix and they are too loud, not digging too much their midrange.

Guitars were Gibsons with EMG 2 tracks of RevG Recto (Rackmount) and two tracks of 5150...both through Mesa OS cab and a single sm57, no post EQ or anything...
the good performance of the band definitely helped.

Sounds great but I'd go for a bit more audible bass guitar. Maybe raise the volume a bit on it and add some mids to the bass.

This reminds me of Far Beyond Driven/TGST.

I absolutely love this mix, really brilliant. The only thing that's missing is perhaps some more high end somewhere......dunno just feels like theres a gap somewhere up there begging to be filled. Also, I'm absolutely craving more bass guitar in the mids, not that it's lacking really it just seems like a golden opportunity to let them roar. Probably my favourite of anything I've heard you do.

Edit: the high end thing might be something for mastering actually, I can't crank up the volume at this time of night though to really be able to tell

Agreed, especially in the chorus there are practically no cymbals. I'd bring the overheads up overall just slightly and possibly boost some 8-12k on them.

With that said, nothing I've mixed has even comes close to this! Amazing job.

Absolutely sick guitar tone, and the drums sound perfect for the style.
I only wish there was a massive, sleazy, obnoxious, grinding bass tone going on underneath the guitars.
Some more OHs would really drive the energy up a notch too.
