I have to say that I enjoyed it even though I loathed the characters and wanted them to die painful and horrible deaths...but that's probably why I liked it.

I've never seen such a frustrating film in all my life. It wasn't necessarily boring, even though it was a bit slow at times. The dialogue was great, however.

I love how the director has the audience almost begging for closure in this movie and he just denies them everything. Frustrating and both realistic and unrealistic at the same time.

It will piss you off, but you'll enjoy it the entire time.

havent seen it, but i do like how half the main characters from the US version are played by British actors o_O

too bad american accent naomi watts is only about half as hott as the british version :(

There was an Austrian version, not British, and this is just the remake by the same director...apparently it's done exactly the same, frame by frame. I think the only British actor in it is Tim Roth...Naomi Watts is American, isn't she? In every movie I've seen her she has an American accent.

Ah one of those joint projects. Cool. It would be really interesting to watch it with people who've never seen it before and see everyone's individual reactions.

Hah, definitely. I appreciated Haneke's intent, trying to provoke the viewer and challenge their wishes. Great acting all round and it sustained a creepy, uneasy tone. Part of the slow-burn pacing was possibly meant to liken it to 'real time', or, how such a scenario would play out gradually. Having said that I totally disliked the blatant condescension and disdain Haneke showed his audience throughout - e.g. when the creepy boy breaks the 4th wall - so, in that respect, I guess he achieved his aim.

I'd recommend Hidden (Cache), another of Haneke's. It's brilliant.
