FX send on tube amp question.

I have a mesa f50 combo amp and I want to go direct in with it through the fx send. It has a direct record out with a silent switch which turns off the cab. The direct out has an integrated speaker sim and I want to use impulses so that's why i'm using the fx send instead. Is it okay to use the silent recording switch when i'm doing this? Dumb question I know, but I don't know shit about this stuff.
