gear!!!!!!

You already have a Fireface, right? In that case, I can definitely suggest ditching the Lynx, the improvements really won't be worth the money IMO, at least not compared to the other pieces of gear! Beyond that I cannot say, this stuff is outta my league!

Yes I have the fireface, I don't have any outnoard compressor, so i temped to try the dynamic toolbox.....

I agree, ditch the Lynx. Gearslutz did a double blind test of the Fireface 800's built in converters vs. one of Apogee's Rosetta high ends converters and literally all of the voters aside from two guessed that the Fireface's converters WERE the Apogee's and commented that the Apogees were clearer, had a better top and bottom as well as colored the sound less.

I would go for the preamp, outboard compression REALLY isn't necessary, but if you work your way towards 16 channels of amazing pre's, you'll be in a better boat.

+1 on sinking cash into the pres

analog EQ and compression is nice to have, but the software nowadays does a pretty damn good job of it...but no software in the world will impart the qualities of a superbly crafted preamp
