Geography question

It is... just not in the States. American History is somewhat self-centered & I'm sure most classes (at the highschool level anyway) ignore important events like Dunkirk and the Battle of Britain and skip ahead to Pearl Harbor.

Nah, we definitely touched on those in high school, but not in the detail of the rest of the war. I'm also not trying to bash the entire American educational system. I went to a public University and had some excellent history professors who really cared about what they taught.

The public high schools usually get the short end of the stick. To be honest, it doesn't surprise me considering what they need to fit into a normal curriculum.

Also, this is just my experience growing up in a fairly humble middle class town. I'm sure it's different in other regions of the country.

It's a federal subject of Russia. Ah cmon dude, is this really so weird? Wait... whats this piece of territory west to Canada...? Holy shit it's USA

Whats that huge chunk of ice east of Canada...? Holy shit it's part of Denmark :heh:

edit: we pretty much covered the history of all the continents except Africa, Far-East and Australia when I was in highschool (but I did take extra history classes tho). And the funny thing about almost all the bigger wars were pretty much natural resources
